In celebration of our We Feed The UK exhibition, running across both The Royal Photographic Society and Martin Parr Foundation for free until 22 June, both galleries will open their doors on Saturday 10 May for a one-off festival.
Set amongst a beautiful coalescence of photography and poetry, telling ten stories of nature-friendly, carbon-sequestering, community-building food production, you can expect:
📷 Exhibition tours with renowned photographers
🗣️ Panel talks with farmers, authors and changemakers
🌾 Worm planting and seed saving workshops
🎤 Live poetry from the incredible Hot Poets
🍞 Plant-based food, fresh bread, and local beer
Headlining the day, food journalist and author of Eating to Extinction, Dan Saladino, joins ‘Rice Warrior’ Dr Debal Deb in a discussion about the power of seed diversity. Debal’s work to rescue rice varieties from imminent extinction in India is unparalleled. With over 1400 conserved from the furthest corners of the country, Debal is championing in-situ conservation of ecological diversity, and the indigenous knowledge systems that uphold this abundance.
From delving into the murky world of sustainable fishing, to laying the foundations for a small farm future, or simply setting earthworms free with your family, the day is not one to miss.
Experience what We Feed The UK is all about: forging unexpected yet magical connections between art, agroecology, and citizens. We are excited to host this space for curiosity, cultivation, and celebration.
