We’re excited to be bringing two new Seed Sovereignty Coordinators into the Seed Sovereignty Programme team at Gaia.
If you’re a dedicated seed guardian looking to use your plant wisdom and collaboration skills to strengthen the growing seed network in the UK, we would love to hear from you.
The Gaia Foundation is a charity that has been working at the nexus of climate resilience, seed diversity, and Indigenous knowledge for nearly four decades, both in the UK and overseas. Across Africa, we support local and Indigenous communities to revive their local seed diversity by restoring confidence in their traditional knowledge and governance systems. We also use communications to raise the voices of traditional seed keepers and small-holder farmers and fisherfolk around the world. The UK Seed Sovereignty Programme formed its roots almost ten years ago and has been accompanying grassroots growers to cultivate a food revolution that starts with seed ever since.
These new regionally-based roles will cover the south and west of England between them, working closely with seed team colleagues based in northern England, Wales and Scotland to nurture and connect emerging grassroots developments in UK seed sovereignty.
Successful candidates will have an understanding of agroecology, seed sovereignty, and small-scale seed production; excellent collaboration and communication skills to help strengthen regional, national, and international seed networks and deliver our respected training programmes; and great project coordination to support our events and multi-stakeholder projects and partnerships.
We are seeking two candidates who are regionally located in the south and/or west of England and are willing to travel as required. Both roles are home-based and 21 hours per week, perfect for growers looking to keep their hands in the soil while also getting the opportunity to contribute to regional, national, and international food systems transformation.
Follow the link below for full role details and requirements. We are only accepting applications through this CharityJob link at this time.
There are no programme specific internships at present but if you would like to be considered for future internships at Gaia, working across any of our programmes, please send an email covering letter alongside your CV to info@gaianet.org and we will get back to you. Thank you!
