An anthropologist by training, Silvia lived and worked for almost 10 years alongside Indigenous Amazonian communities in the Pirá Paraná River in the Colombian Amazon. She’s committed her work to stopping the destruction of Nature and advancing the transition toward a more sustainable future ever since, and is a much loved member of Gaia’s extended family. Silvia holds a Masters in Holistic Sciences from Schumacher College in the UK, and co-founded Efecto Mariposa for holistic science programmes in Colombia. She has been Executive Director of our long-term partner Fundación Gaia Amazonas in Colombia, the Director of Greenpeace Colombia, and is currently leading a Colombia and Peru Initiative for the Climate and Land Use Alliance. She is co-author and editor of The Lands of the Jaguars of Yuruparí (2011), and has led trainings in eco-cultural mapping processes with Gaia’s partner organisations in Africa.
