Say it with Seed
As is our custom, we’ve gathered together our top suggestions for an Earth conscious Christmas that directly supports our work alongside the small-scale farmers, fishers and seed custodians who really feed the world.
In recognition of the incredible work of our Seed Sovereignty UK & Ireland Programme, we’ve put seed at the heart of it. Is there a gift that combines abundance, joy and responsibility more than seed? We don’t think so!
Here are three ways that you can say it with seed this Christmas, all for under £30.
The Seed Revolution T-shirt
This Autumn, to celebrate our Seed Gathering, we launched the Seed Revolution T-shirt range featuring a stunning seed design by much-loved artist Isla Middleton.
The t-shirts are as green as they come – printed on organic cotton using water-based inks, sent out in plastic free packaging and returnable as part of a circular economy! Take a look at the Teemill story here for more.
Featuring three seeds representing stories emerging from our Seed Sovereignty UK and Ireland Programme, the simple design comes in two print colours and a whole host of styles, many proudly bearing our Programme slogan ‘A Food Revolution starts with seed’.
Seed for every taste!
This Christmas, the Gaia team will be bundling up a Seed Revolution t-shirt with packets of seeds from some of our best-loved seed producers.
Cherry pick two or three seed packets from each to create the ultimate home-grown ‘seed taster menu’, or, be guided by the location of the recipient and choose the supplier closest to them for the most locally adapted seed for their growing conditions.
We recommend Vital Seeds in Devon, the Seed Cooperative in Lincolnshire, Real Seeds in Wales or the Irish Seed Savers in Ireland
Enjoy creating a bespoke gift: the ultimate way to say it with seed.
We Feed the World – The Book
At over 300 pages, our We Feed the World book, published by family-run, Dorset based publishers Little Toller, draws together an inspiring collection of photographic works from 47 world-class photographers, telling the stories of farmers and fisherfolk from all over the world.
The book is a timeless gift for anyone interested in seed, food and regenerative agriculture; a compendium of solidarity, resilience, abundance and ingenuity.
With a foreword from renowned seed activist Vandana Shiva and stunning images from 6 continents, We Feed the World is an inspirational addition to any bookcase.

The Landworkers Alliance 2022 Calendar
Our friends at the Landworkers Alliance never fail to deliver when it comes to producing the must-have calendar of the year, working with brilliant printmaker Rosanna Morris.
Welcome in 2022 with some sage advice… sow seeds, save seeds!
Wild Nutrition – From Root to Stem
As part of We Feed the World Frome, we partnered with medical herbalist Alex Laird and Tasha Vallecillo Stevens from 42 Acres in Somerset on a talk all about Wild Nutrition. A video of the talk is available here.
This topic is close to our hearts. The biodiversity of the margins is critical to future resilience, health and adaptation, which is why we highly recommend Alex laird’s book Root to Stem. It is packed with recipes, tips and the science behind all that is health-giving in the world of plants, seeds, mushroom and fungi.
Isla Middleton Foraging Poster Series
We loved collaborating with artist Isla Middleton to produce the design for the Seed Gathering and Seed Revolution T-shirt. Isla’s work celebrates natures forms in all their glory and this stunning foraging poster marries usefulness with art perfectly.
Printed with vegetable based, vegan inks on slightly textured grey 100% recycled paper. £20 or £50 for a set of three. 49cm x 70cm.
